Ladd Sanger Appointed to Texas Transportation Commission’s Aviation Advisory Committee
Payne Mitchell Ramsey Sanger partner Ladd Sanger has been appointed to the Texas Transportation Commission’s Aviation Advisory Committee. This nine-member committee advises the Commission and the Texas Department of Transportation on aviation matters.
Sanger was appointed to a three-year term expiring August 31, 2029. The committee’s work includes providing input on the statewide general aviation airport system and advising on the development of Texas’ aviation capital improvement and facilities programs.
The appointment is a natural extension of Sanger’s nearly 30 years of experience in aviation law and his firsthand knowledge of aviation as both a trial lawyer and pilot. Sanger has served on the Saratoga Wyoming Airport Advisory Board, where he owns the Fixed Base Operation (FBO) at Shivley Field. Board Certified in Aviation Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Sanger has handled more than 500 general aviation accident cases, with litigation involving virtually every category of aircraft, including single- and multi-engine aircraft, turboprops, jets and helicopters. He is an active pilot with an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and multiple jet type ratings, and has formal training in aircraft accident investigation from the University of Southern California.
That combination of legal and technical experience is particularly valuable in aviation matters, where understanding the aircraft, its systems, flight operations and the circumstances surrounding an incident can be critical to evaluating a case. Sanger's practice includes complex aviation crash litigation involving general aviation, helicopters, air ambulance operations and commercial airlines, as well as aviation insurance, airport operations and National Transportation Safety Board investigations.
