Engine Failure Forces Emergency Landing of News Helicopter — Ladd Sanger Secures Recovery for Injured Passenger
Ladd Sanger represented a television news reporter who was seriously injured when a Bell 206B helicopter lost engine power and was forced to make an emergency landing near Dallas, Texas. After reporting on morning traffic, the aircraft experienced a sudden power loss at approximately 800 feet.
The pilot executed an autorotation into a field, where the helicopter rolled over upon landing. Although all occupants were able to evacuate, the reporter sustained significant injuries, including facial lacerations and a fractured vertebra that required months of recovery in a back brace.
On behalf of the injured passenger, Ladd pursued claims against multiple parties arising from the loss of engine power and resulting crash. The case resolved through settlements with several defendants, providing compensation for her injuries.
