Andy Payne Settles a Highly Publicized Elevator Case

Andy Payne represented the family of a man who fell 14 stories down an open elevator shaft. The building that paid the settlement had failed to comply with elevator regulatory requirements and had executed an unsafe elevator evacuation against its own policies and procedures. The case was settled shortly before trial for a substantial confidential amount. The building changed their policies after the lawsuit and changed their elevators to come into regulatory compliance.
